Women's football: Olympique Lyonnais crush PSG and head for the title of champion of FranceApril 14, 2019
The match was decisive in the title race, the result is without appeal. The Olympique Lyonnais (OL) women's team crushed Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 5-0 on Saturday (April 13th) in the clash at the top of the French league. This meeting which gathered 25 907 spectators at Parc OL is a record for women's football in France.
Thanks to this victory, the Lyonnaises take a big step towards a 13e title of champion of France in a row. Before this meeting, counting for the 20e day, the two teams were neck and neck: 59 points each. With now three points ahead, and only two games to play, the OL is almost guaranteed to win this title.
On the way to a treble
The Lyonnaises have left little hope to Parisiennes by opening the score from 8e minute play through Ada Hegerberg, the best player on the planet in 2018. The players of Reynald Pedros will then get some great opportunities (18e, 39e) without concluding. It will be done just before half-time thanks to goals from French internationals Eugénie Le Sommer (40e) and Wendie Renard (45 + 1)e).
Smothered PSG players fail to put their foot on the ball and will even cash two new goals of Dzsenifer Marozsan (60e) and Shanice van de Sanden (90 + 2)e). Thanks to this victory, the Lyonnaises still mark their footprint on the French league and can always hope to win a hat-trick: championship, French Cup and Champions League.
