Red Flames beat Nigeria with smallest difference in Cyprus CupMarch 5, 2019
The Belgian football women have won their third game in group C in the Cyprus Cup on Monday. The Red Flames took it from Nigeria in Larnaca 1-0. On Wednesday, Belgium will face Mexico in a fifth place.
Elena Dhont (7.) scored the winning goal early in the first half. The Flames opened the tournament with a big 3-0 win against Slovakia. Then followed a 0-0 draw against Austria. The Belgians finish in second place in their group, with the same number of points (7) as Austria but a lower goal difference. Mexico, the next opponent of the Belgians, finished second behind Italy in his group.

It is the fourth participation in the Cyprus Cup for the Red Flames. The first time was in 2015, they were also present in 2017 and 2018. Last year they ranked fifth in their best performance in Cyprus.
