Van den Berg was a fixed value until the summer of 2017 and even captain of Orange. At the European Championships in her own country, however, she lost her basic place. In the final won against Denmark (4-2), Van den Berg was allowed to come in shortly before the end. Together with Sherida Spitse, she took the cup. A few weeks after the European Championships, Van den Berg decided, out of disappointment about her 'relegation' with the Dutch team, to no longer be available for the national team.

Van den Berg played for years at ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands. After adventures in Sweden and Norway, she ended up in England in 2016, where she first played for Liverpool and later for Reading. At the latter club, she had her contract dissolved in December 2017.

Van den Berg has been representing Valencia since January 2018. At the beginning of this year, she had a conversation with national coach Sarina Wiegman about a possible return to the Dutch national team. Van den Berg was then told that there was currently no place for her in the Dutch selection.
